The Houston Ballet premiered Stanton Welch’s Giselle in 2016. Giselle, a village girl, is betrayed by Albrecht the nobleman. She dies but saves him in the afterlife. This heart-wrenching story transcends life and death.
This production has been raved over locally and is finally coming to Japan! Welch’s dramatic vision is faithful to the original story and structure with impressive group and male dance scenes. Additionally, the ornate costumes and staging techniques seduce the audience into the story!
