Syunji Suzukita exhibition – Abstract, and to the sand painter

We has been holding exhibitions to introduce artists with ties to Kiyosu, since 2013. This exhibition, the seventh of its kind, introduces Syunji Suzukita, who worked as an art teacher at Kiyosu Junior High School for five years from April 1958.
Suzukita is an artist who has consistently created paintings using real sand. With his unique method of painting while meticulously calculating the shading of the sand, he has explored expressions that take advantage of the inherent color and texture of the sand. He continues to draw based on his own experiences while gazing at magnificent nature, such as the desert landscape of the Silk Road in China, and the seaside of Daiozaki in Ise-Shima, which he visits regularly.
I hope you can feel the beauty of nature in encounters with his works.
