When drawing up a plan for a building, if we drew everything in its original size it certainly wouldn’t fit on a desk, and we would have trouble seeing the whole building. To address this, we “scale” the design, reducing the size of objects by a certain ratio so that it is easier for us to understand it.
When we work in a smaller scale, it allows us to work on our ideas through hand-sized drawings and models. On the other hand, a larger scale may allow us to better imagine the details of what the building may look like in a real life scale.
In this exhibition, we invite you to explore the fascinating and creative aspects of architecture, zooming into the lives and interactions within buildings and also zooming out to how these buildings create cities.
