Studio Ghibli Layout Designs(Fukui)

Stuidio Ghibli is a world leading animation filmmaking company.
Some 1400 valuable “layouts” of films such as the latest film “When Marnie Was There,” “Heidi, Girl of the Alps (1974)” and “Future Boy Conan (1978), which were directed by Takahata/Miyazaki before Ghibli, in addition to the famous “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984),” “Mononoke-hime (1997),” and an Academy Award winning film “Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (2001),” will be exhibited at Fukui Fine Arts Museum.

Layouts are the blueprint for animation films, which shows all instructions of the character’s expression, its background and camera movement. You may discover the director’s imagination skill and the secrets of Ghibli films by analyzing the layout, which implies the character’s speedy level/dynamism and space configuration.
