The Fukuyama Summer Festival enliven the summer in Fukuyama. The Niagari Dance is held on August 13. The Niagari Dance is a traditional dance which has been passed down since the Edo period; It is also an Intangible Folk Cultural Property designated by Hiroshima Prefecture. The dance has a unique rhythm and is without the accompaniment of any songs. People dance to the accompaniment of an elegant melody. Every year, a large number of participants hold the Yotsutake and parade on the streets dancing while the Shamisen and flutes are played. The Irohamaru YOSAKOI is held on August 14. The YOSAKOI Dance Meet is also held. This event is special to Fukuyama, a site related to the Irohamaru Incident of Sakamoto Ryoma. The Ashida River Fireworks Display, the finale of the summer festival, is held on August 15. Water star mine proud of length of 1, West Japan that kept the surface of the water of the Ashida River alive is beauty only in Fukuyama. We can sense the force bodily at seat which we established on both sides of the Ashida River.
