Islander 2024

Islander 2024 is an exchange event that connects islands with cities and fosters interaction between islands. Known as an annual “Island Festival” where participants can experience the charm of Japan’s many islands in Tokyo, the event celebrates its 32nd edition this year, with over 170 remote islands participating.
At the various island booths, visitors can consult directly with island residents about topics such as migration or tourism. There will also be sales of local specialties such as seafood, fruits, and alcoholic beverages. Additionally, visitors can enjoy hands-on activities and workshops related to island life, as well as a stamp rally, making it a fun event for families.
On stage, performers from the islands will showcase traditional arts, and some sessions will feature live exchanges with people on the islands through online connections. These performances and activities will be streamed live on the official website. Following the positive reception from last year, the popular island cuisine – dishes prepared using island ingredients – will be available again this year.
This event offers a perfect opportunity to engage all five senses and experience the rich nature, history, culture, and daily life of Japan’s islands.
