The 41st Edo Nagashi-bina will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Azumabashi Waterfront Terrace in Sumida Park, Taito City, Tokyo.
This traditional event along the Sumida River is known as a seasonal custom that welcomes the arrival of spring.
Edo Nagashi-bina is a traditional Japanese ritual in which paper dolls, called hitogata, are floated down the river to pray for good health, safety, and protection from misfortune. Considered the origin of the Hina Matsuri doll festival, this custom has been passed down since the Heian period.
Participation is available through advance registration or same-day registration.
Up to 700 participants who register in advance can join the event free of charge. Details regarding the registration period and application method will be announced on the official website.
Those who are unable to register in advance, or who did not apply beforehand, may still participate by purchasing a nagashi-bina doll at the venue on the day of the event.
The fee for same-day participation is 1,000 yen per doll, and availability is limited. Registration will close once supplies run out.
There is no dedicated parking near the venue, and visitors are encouraged to use public transportation. Asakusa Station is the nearest station, within walking distance from multiple train lines.
Please be sure to check the official website in advance for the latest information on registration procedures and event details.
