What is the Tenryo Joge Tango no Sekku Festival?
During the Edo period, Joge-machi was under the direct control of the Tokugawa Shogunate and prospered through the financial industry. Even today, the townscape still retains a strong trace of that time, and many different festival dolls and helmets from the end of the Edo period to the present day remain. The Tenryo Joge Tango no Sekku Festival is a festival where these festival dolls and helmets are displayed in the shops and homes of the town, welcoming visitors to a different side of Joge-machi than usual.
