Biggest Illumination event in Eastern Japan with 5 million lights
Ashikaga Flower Park’s illumination event, Hikari no Hana no Niwa – Flower Fantasy 2025–26, features more than 5 million lights and has been ranked No.1 nationwide. This season, three major areas—the Miracle Great Wisteria, the Illuminated Rose Garden (within the observatory), and the Flower Castle—will incorporate fragrance-based spatial effects, creating a more immersive illumination experience.
In March 2022, the event was re-certified as one of Japan’s Three Great Illuminations with the highest national ranking. It has also earned the No.1 spot in the Illumination Award’s illumination category for seven consecutive years (2016–2022), organized by the Yakei Tourism Convention and Bureau. Additionally, the event received first place nationwide for two consecutive years in the International Illumination Award’s illumination event category.
Throughout the season, the event is divided into three themed periods, each offering a distinct seasonal presentation.
Theme 1: October 18 – Mid-November
A collaboration of light and flowers, highlighted by the illuminated amethyst sage that reaches peak bloom during this period. Visitors can enjoy a botanical garden atmosphere enhanced by seasonal lighting.
Theme 2: Late November – Late December
A Christmas-themed program transforms the park into a festive landscape filled with holiday-specific illuminations and displays.
Theme 3: January 1 – February 15
New Year illuminations blend with the soft glow of winter peonies. Other seasonal flowers such as wintersweet and early-blooming plum blossoms are also lit up, adding color to the winter garden.
