The Tōka Ebisu Festival, held every January 9–11 at Imamiya Ebisu Shrine in Osaka, is one of the region’s most vibrant winter traditions. More than one million visitors come to pray for good fortune and prosperous business during the three days known as Yoiebisu, Hon-ebisu, and Nokori-ebisu.
The shrine grounds are filled with festive energy — 福娘 Fukumusume maidens handing out lucky bamboo branches, rows of food stalls open late into the night, and unique customs such as the famous maguro (tuna) offering presented to Ebisu, the god of prosperity. Visitors decorate their bamboo branches with colorful lucky charms, creating a joyful and lively atmosphere.
Even for travelers, this is an unforgettable cultural experience and a perfect way to feel the spirit of Osaka in winter.
