Exhibition Osamu Harada : Discovery of “Kawaii”

Osamu Harada (1946-2016) is illustrator. He is also the creator of “OSAMU GOODS” which was very popular among female junior and senior high school students in the late 1970s and 1990s.
He was influenced by American comics, TV animation and pop art in the 50s and 60s. The characters drawn with simple lines and clear colors are related to Japanese “Kawaii” culture. He is the pioneer of “Kawaii”.
This exhibition will be the first national touring exhibition after his death. It will exhibit variety of works of the artist which the illustrations of “an an” in the 1970s, documents from early childhood to in the 20s and about My Art Book. We will show the charm of Osamu Harada.
