This Okinawan musical depicting the lives of two people in love is bursting with local charm. A stage performance that both identifies and exemplifies the depth and variety of Okinawan performing arts, it serves as a comprehensive showcase of all Okinawa has to offer, including portrayals of Yuimaru (collaboration), Niibichi (marriage), the harvest festival, and other events. The live sanshin (a stringed instrument), violin and taiko drum performances are also not to be missed. This breathtaking performance transcends language barriers.
(Rated “five stars” at the “Off” festival of the Festival d’Avignon 2014 and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2015)
