Experience the Spirit of Awa Odori at Tokushima Castle Park!
Experience one of Japan’s most iconic cultural traditions this spring! The “2026 Spring Festival: Tokushima Castle Awa Odori” will be held on April 26th at the historic Tokushima Central Park (the former site of Tokushima Castle).
This event offers Free Admission and a unique opportunity to see the world-famous “Awa Odori” dance outside of the crowded summer season. You can witness powerful performances at three main zones: the energetic “Wa-odori” at the historic Washinomon Gate, the sophisticated “Stage Dance” in front of the Lord Hachisuka statue, and the relaxed “Nagashi-odori” at the Cherry Blossom Viewing Plaza.
In addition to the traditional dance, visitors can enjoy local Japanese food from various food trucks featuring Tokushima’s regional specialties. There are also hands-on activities for children, such as Mini 4WD racing and engineering workshops. Located just a 10-minute walk from JR Tokushima Station, it is an easily accessible and must-visit event for anyone traveling through Shikoku.
