The Sapporo Snow Festival is one of Japan’s most iconic winter events and attracts more than two million visitors each year. Held mainly in Odori Park and the Susukino area, the festival transforms the city into a world of snow and ice art, creating a vibrant winter atmosphere throughout Sapporo.
Odori Park is known for its massive snow sculptures, which have long served as the symbol of the festival. In 2026, five large-scale snow sculptures are planned for the venue, accompanied by medium and small sculptures as well as various winter attractions. At night, the illuminated snow creations offer a stunning and unforgettable view.
The festival also features works from the International Snow Sculpture Contest, community-made sculptures, food stalls, and hands-on winter experiences, making it an event that appeals to visitors of all ages.
