The Mihara Shinmeichi Festival is a long-standing traditional market held every February in Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture. It is known as an event where people pray for good fortune, prosperity in business, and good health for the year ahead. The city center becomes lively with numerous stalls selling lucky charms, local goods, and a wide variety of festival foods.
One of the festival’s best-known features is the large daruma dolls, along with many other types of daruma offered as auspicious items. In some years, additional local activities and performances are held, making the event a seasonal highlight that reflects the early spring atmosphere of Mihara.
