The Tale of Architecture

Shigeru Wakayama is an architect, writer and researcher. The thinking area of Wakayama is diverse, including architecture, cities, culture, climate, literature, and history, but if you read it carefully, the subtle logical universe weaved by it as a whole and the question of what human beings will appear. According to him, the idea has been accumulated that architecture is created according to stories, not according to style or function. “Building” becomes “architecture” because of the story hidden in it. Perhaps modernism was also a story.

Wakayama has long been involved in the education and guidance of students at Nagoya Institute of Technology. In this exhibition, we will introduce the whole picture of the thinking from the architectural works created by Wakayama and the works of the disciples who are currently active in the architectural world. Through the visual development of models, drawings, texts, images, etc. throughout the museum designed by Wakayama, a “story” in which one person’s thoughts are passed down over time is expressed.
