Sergei Redkin Piano Recital (Chiba)

Sergei Redkin’s first Japan performance in 2018 was sold out! Since his 3rd place prize in the International Tchaikovsky Competition, he has played with a number of orchestras, including The Philharmonia Orchestra, and last December, Valery Gergiev appointed him as a soloist for the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.

In his first recital in Japan, Redkin was energetic, graceful and versatile. The music was sharp and its essence came alive with his technique. He continues to mature with increasing depth, a genius of Russian music who five years after winning the International Tchaikovsky Competition, is turning to Mussorgky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition.” Expectations on how he will interpret the tones of this majestic work and its rhythm of the Russian tradition are rising. This masterpiece and his pianism will be passed down and shouldn’t be missed.
