Zazen (Seated Zen Mediation) in Shunkoin

Zen Meditation Class and Dharma Talk (90 Minutes): Traditional Zen Philosophy and Application to Your Everyday Life

Our Zen meditation class (including Dharma talk and temple tour) is offered according to the schedule above. Each class is 90 minutes and lead in English by the deputy head priest, Rev. Taka Kawakami. He explains how to incorporate Zen Buddhist philosophy and meditation into your everyday life by using religious, philosophical, and neuroscientific concepts.

The following is a notice regarding zazenkai at Shunkoin.
Due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus, there have been no zazenkai or cultural experiences at Shunkoin since last year, except for the online zazenkai.
At this time, we will begin accepting reservations for a special Zen experience called “the Way of Zen” (in Japanese and English, completely private, reservations required) in April 2021.

We are also planning to resume regular zazen sessions (in Japanese only for the time being) at Shunkoin in May. We will post the schedule on the calendar, so please check back. If you would like to participate in the zazenkai, you need to have attended at least two online zazenkai. I hope you will be able to join us. We hope you will understand.
